First report of the IOPC Funds working group on non-technical measures to promote quality shipping for carriage of oil by sea

The report draws heavily on the position paper submitted by the International Group (document 92FUND/WGR.4/2/3) to the 10th Extraordinary session of the Funds Assembly in February 2006. The working group decided to invite the CMI to undertake a study to identify factors which positively or adversely impact on exchange of information between insurers and to assess the impact of competition law and practices in this context. The working group also decided to undertake a study to determine the extent to which the main focus of its study should be directed to vessels not entered with International Group member clubs and not classed with IACS members. It is anticipated that the results of the proposed CMI study will be presented in March 2007 and the working group have provisionally set a deadline of October 2008 for completion of the review/mandate.(Click on title to see report).
