New International Group Chairman elected

At the Annual General Meeting of the International Group of P & I Clubs managers held in London on 14 November, the managers of the 13 member clubs unanimously endorsed and welcomed the election of Peter Spendlove to succeed Alistair Groom as International Group Chairman. Alistair Groom stood down at the meeting following completion of his three-year term of office and was thanked by the Group managers for his considerable efforts and achievements on behalf of the Group during his term as chairman. Peter Spendlove, who is the Managing Director of West of England Insurance Services (Luxembourg) S.A. the managers of the West of England Ship Owners Mutual Insurance Association (Luxembourg), has been actively involved in a number of Group subcommittees and working groups and has chaired the key Group reinsurance subcommittee since 2000. Just Arne Storvik, CFO and Senior Vice President of Gard has been elected as the new chairman of the reinsurance subcommittee.
