Joint IG/ITOPF/NOAA workshop in Washington and signing of new IG/NOAA MoU
A joint workshop was organised in Washington with
participation by representatives from the Group Pollution subcommittee, ITOPF
and NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration) at which the
issues of moving more quickly to natural resource damage restoration and
the use of modelling in the natural resource damage assessment process were
addressed. The workshop lasted two days and was also attended by the Department
of Interior, the Coast Guard, states trustees and a number of US legal correspondents
and consultants who have been involved in behalf of group clubs in US oil
spill incidents. Following the workshop, a program for reviewing and
improving protocols for data collection and analysis use in the modelling
process is being developed. During the workshop the renewed Memorandum
of Understanding between the Group and NOAA was signed (click for copy).
