Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on the Emergency Prevention and Disposal of Marine Pollution from Ships

This circular provides a summary of the key provisions of and background to these Chinese Regulations, including the requirement that “operators” of any ship carrying polluting and hazardous cargoes in bulk or of any other vessel above 10,000 gt must conclude a pollution clean up contract with an MSA approved pollution response company before entering a port in China.
