EMSA workshop on liability and compensation for maritime claims

The Group was invited to attend and present at a two-day workshop for representatives of member state administrations on liability and compensation for maritime claims organised by EMSA in Lisbon on the 18th and 19th of May. A number of presentations were made by EMSA staff and invited participants including the IOPC Funds, SASEMAR (the Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency) and the Group. Participants from Member States were also invited to share their experiences on incident claims management and problems encountered and participated in a simulated oil/HNS pollution incident exercise organised by the IOPC Funds. The Group presentation provided the participants with an overview of the Club/Group insurance cover system and addressed issues of certification requirements in relation to forthcoming European regulation, the potential impact of sanctions regulation on insurers and the current EU DG Comp investigations into the Group.

Announcing the International Group of P&I Clubs Fellowship in International Maritime Law 2021-2022

The International Group of P&I Clubs is delighted to announce the establishment of a fellowship for the academic year 2021-2022 for a student pursuing Master of Laws (LL.M.) studies in International Maritime Law at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) based in Malta.
