Italy has approved the deployment of military forces or private contractors onboard Italian ships

Article 5 of Decree Law 12th July 2011 no. 107, (published on Official Gazette no. 160 of that date) states the general principle of lawfulness of employment of armed guards on Italian ships. A copy of the article (in italian only) can be downloaded.
