International Group hosted events, Singapore – Asia Profile

The International Group hosted three events in Singapore last week in order to help raise the Group’s profile in Asia. 

Firstly, more than 230 Group Club correspondents from 63 countries attended the biennial Group Correspondents event aimed at sharing knowledge and improving service standards across the correspondent and Club network. 

A diverse set of speakers spoke on a wide range of topics and issues affecting shipowners.  Secondly, the Group hosted a VIP event at Singapore’s Stock Exchange and invited some of Singapore’s elite shipping community to discuss the role of the Group and P&I Clubs both now and in the future. High-profile guest speakers included Ms Quah Ley Hoon, the Chief Executive, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore; Andreas Sohmen-Pao, Chairman, BW Group; Esben Poulsson, Chairman, International Chamber of Shipping; and Dr Karen Purnell, Managing Director, ITOPF.

All are pictured in the SGX bullring, with Group Chairman, Paul Jennings, Simon Swallow - Chairman of the Group’s Brand and Communications Working Group and Group CEO, Nick Shaw. And lastly, the Group presented on its activities and those of its partner, ITOPF, to more than 60 Group Club staff located in the Asia region as well as encouraging them to take the Group’s P&I exams.  These events reflected the Group’s commitment to Asia and the ever-growing importance of this business community.
