Introducing the International Group's Education programme – A unique course in the industry

In this short video Alex McCooke, Chair of the International Group’s Education Committee and Annie Stow, Chair of the Education Outreach Working Group, highlight the impact of the work undertaken by the Education Committee. They discuss how the Group has expanded its offering to the changing needs of stakeholders in the P&I industry. Through initiatives such as audio books, textbook bundles, scholarships, and more, the Committee aims to provide comprehensive P&I education accessible to individuals with different learning styles.

The Committee's commitment to developing courses that are inclusive is a key focus. This ensures that the information shared is not limited to insiders but is available to everyone at an affordable price. The materials cover a wide range of topics and are presented transparently, providing useful and candid insights. The efforts of those involved in developing the programme allow the delivery of innovative exams, textbooks, and infrastructure at a fraction of the cost typically associated with university courses.

Furthermore, the Committee's efforts to introduce remote invigilation for exams have greatly enhanced accessibility. Regardless of geographic location, as long as individuals have internet access, they can pursue their P&I education and achieve marine insurance qualifications.

The International Group's Education Committee remains committed to creating an inclusive educational environment that empowers individuals to learn and thrive. By promoting accessibility, transparency, and affordability, they are revolutionising the educational experience in the P&I world and supporting the maritime industry.
