The long-awaited Green Paper EU maritime policy prepared by EU Commissioner Joe Borg and a task force headed by John Richardson was published on 7th June.

Group presentation to EESC Study Group on the Third Maritime Safety Package


Along with other industry participants including ICS, Chamber of Shipping, OCIMF, Intertanko and ECSA, the Group was invited to address the European Economic and Social Committee Study Group which is currently preparing an opinion on the Third Maritime Safety Package drafted by the European Commission.

A presentation entitled "An introduction to the International Group of P Clubs" was made to delegates attending the 91st IMO Legal Committee on 25 April at the IMO headquarters followed by a reception.

Group signs new Memorandum of Understanding with IOPC Funds


On 19 April, Group Chairman Alistair Groom and IOPC Funds Director Mans Jacobsson signed a new Memorandum of Understanding between the International Group clubs and the IOPC Funds replacing the original Memorandum signed in November 1980 and extended in November 1996.

STOPIA 2006 and TOPIA 2006 - agreement reached with IOPC Funds Secretariat and OCIMF on revised wordings of the voluntary agreements for 50:50 sharing of compensation for pollution damage.

2006 Oil Pollution Surcharge US Voyages


The rates for 2006 for SBT and Non-SBT vessels for 2006 are reduced by 5% from the 2005 rates.
